Food Recovery Program:
Inspiring citizens and cities to address urban community food scarcity by increasing food recovery operations
Objective A: Develop and maintain food recovery opportunities for local communities
Objective B: Educate the public by providing them with clear options for their involvement and by demystifying the food recovery profit‐sharing model
Outcomes (Short Term)
GESS staff, advisors, and stakeholders are knowledgeable about food recovery issues and best practices
Produce programs that will not only lower the amount of disposed food, but drastically increase the recovery & repurposing of that waste
Impacts (Long Term)
Multiple revenue streams are generated that facilitate long‐term stability and growth for ecosystem
Reduce the number of people living in food insecure homes by 200,000.
Increase the recovery of disposed food in our project areas by 20% over 2016 disposal rates
Clean Energy Projects:
Executing on high‐impact projects to recover clean energy from troublesome waste streams
Objective A: Deploy a proven portfolio of technologies to transform landfills into clean energy production sites
Objective B: Assist communities & businesses lower their overall energy costs, meet sustainability goals, create jobs, and realize alternative revenue sources
Outcomes (Short Term)
Lead the execution of at least 1 clean energy project per year.
In partnership with other stakeholders, establish the "6X6 50 Mile Energy Challenge".
Create a functional tech deployment infrastructure and maintain engineering best practices, procedures, and standards
Impacts (Long Term)
Benefits of clean energy projects are easily identifiable.
All projects use B Corp best practices for clean energy generation
Projects will scale into fully sustainable businesses without the need of incentives.
Clean Water Infrastructure Program:
Incorporating smart design and multi‐media marketing into clean water management practices
Objective A: Encourage the innovation and promotion of new‐age techniques and technologies that focus on the handling, recovery, and production of clean water
Objective B: Develop a holistic approach to water management that focuses on smaller‐scale, decentralized projects
Outcomes (Short Term)
Establish Clean Water Infrastructure Program (CWIP) to construct & maintain curbside gardens, permeable paving, and other small‐scale green infrastructure projects.
Foster better understanding of clean water issues by citizens, businesses, and governmental leaders.
Impacts (Long Term)
Include reuse of greywater, blackwater, and rainwater in non‐potable water applications such as toilets, cooling towers, and irrigation.
Increase the quantity, quality, and popularity of water fountains & gardens in schools, sports venues, entertainment zones, and parks through digital media promotion of health benefits.
Global Collaboration Platform:
Deploying a communications platform that harnesses the sustaining power of a unified, engaged community based on experiential learning and innovative solutions
